HUMPHREY LESTOCQ

Supporting player who was most prominent in the 1950's and 60's. He was probably best known for playing the stooge to the puppet Mr Turnip on the TV show Whirligig.

He was born in 1919 and died in 1984.

ROSAMUND JOHN

Well liked beautiful leading lady who had many lead roles during the 1940's but when roles dried up in the fifties she retired quick smart. Following her film debut in 1934 she concentrated on stage work and didn't make another movie for 8 years.

Born in London in 1913 she died in 1998. Her real name was Nora Rosamund Jones.

MAX MILLER

Max Miller was a hugely popular (down south anyway) music hall comedian known as The Cheeky Chappie because of his, for the time, very risque material. This former circus performer made quite a few movies during the 1930's but was never a major player.

LINDEN TRAVERS

This under used beautiful brunette should have been a bigger star than the one or two leading roles she garnered allowed her to be. Started out as an ingenue under Carol Reed and also during the forties was the female foil in several comedies starring the likes of Tommy Trinder and George Formby. Also made a great villainess on occasion.

Born Florence Lindon Travers in 1913 she died 23 October 2001, her younger brother Bill Travers became a popular leading man of the fifties.

Best known as a radio actor, presenter and was also a journalist (he had a popular column for the Daily Mirror during the late 1930's).

Was rumoured to have had a fling with Somerset Maugham who wrote him into his book Strictly Personal, Winn himself also wrote several novels. His film roles were of the supporting actor kind.

Very pretty Leading lady contracted to Rank who looked, for a brief spell in the late 1940's, like she would become a major name but faded somewhat throughout the 1950's.
Most prominent roles were her first two Brighton Rock for the Boultings alongside Richard Attenborough and the lead in Alice in Wonderland.
